About Canadian Parents for French

Canadian Parents for French is a nationwide, research-informed, volunteer organization that represents 25,000 members across Canada. We are located across the country with 10 Branches and offices, and 135+ local community Chapters. We believe the ability to communicate in more than one language fosters creative, empathetic and adaptive people who access far-reaching opportunities and enhance the social and economic prosperity of our country. Canada has an enviable capacity to ensure that upcoming generations develop this ability in both official languages. We work to ensure that all learners have the opportunity, support and motivation to learn and use French.

Canadian Parents for French is looking for volunteers to act as online French tutors for children enrolled in our pilot program. Tutors will help children by speaking in French and working to improve the child's French in conversation, reading, and writing. Volunteers must be comfortable working with young kids and in both French and English.

We are recruiting for volunteers who can dedicate 1 to 2 hours per week for our fall program. Volunteers choose their own schedule each week. This program runs 6 days a week. This program will run from September 14 to mid-December. Orientation and training provided to all volunteers. This position is virtual and tutors will work with kids across Canada to help them maintain their French via Zoom.

  • Strong spoken and written French and English is needed. Tutors will be working in both official languages.

  • Prior experience working with children and youth is encouraged.

  • Must have access to a computer, laptop or tablet with a microphone and camera.

Ideally, the start date is January 11, 2021, but we accept applications on a rolling basis. Please allow us up to 6 business to review your application. All applicants will be contacted for a 30-minute bilingual interview.
